Cetyl dimethicone is an alkyl silicone specifically developed for its good, compatibility with many organic cosmetic ingredients. It provides excellent lubricity, shine and emolliency to color cosmetics, skin care, sun care and hair care formulations.
Cetyl dimethicone increases the effectiveness of UV filters in emulsions. It helps to reduce the level of UV-filters and maintain the SPF. Cetyl Dimethicone shows SPF boosting effect in O/W emulsion containing 6% organic UV filter and 5% inorganic UV filter. The maximum SPF boosting effect can be achieved by adding 0.5-1.0% of cetyl dimethicone into sun protection formulation.
