How does the new hydrolysed corn starch perform compared to PVP?

IOTA’s research and development began with a series of basic comparison tests to evaluate the performance of the new hydrolysed corn starch – MaizeCare Style Polymer – against PVP , the predominant synthetic hair fixative on the market today. The objective was to compare these two polymers at various concentrations in the same standard hair styling gel formulation (as shown in Table 1). Also included in these tests was a commercial benchmark product with a concentration of 2.8% PVP .
Comparison of stiffness capabilities
IOTA’s hydrolysed corn starch achieved similar stiffness compared to PVP at both 1% and 5% polymer active level. These results support the claim that this polymer can create a styling aid with film-forming properties that range from soft-touch styling to superior stiffness.
