IOTA 8866, a high-performance silicone prepolymer, is a single-terminated long-chain alkyl silicone oil with a diol hydroxyl end cap. It features a unique single-terminated dihydroxyl end cap structure, an average molecular weight of 4250, and is a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid. It exhibits reactivity similar to polyols, capable of copolymerizing with groups such as -NCO and -COOH.
This powerful product significantly improves the abrasion resistance of resins or coatings, imparting an excellent smooth feel to materials. Simultaneously, its low surface tension not only promotes coating leveling but also provides excellent anti-stick, anti-fouling, and anti-graffiti properties.
In applications, IOTA 8866 is widely used in the synthesis of silicone PU resins and emulsions, modified polyurethane and polyester resins, as well as two-component PU and amino varnishes. When used, it can react with isocyanates to synthesize prepolymers, followed by polyol chain extension, or be directly added to the main resin for uniform dispersion, making it an ideal choice for enhancing the overall performance of materials.
