As demand for high-performance cosmetics grows, trimethylsiloxy silicate (TSS) has become an innovative ingredient in formulations for sunscreens, skincare, makeup, and haircare products. Its highly cross-linked molecular structure provides excellent film-forming, hydrophobicity, and compatibility, making it ideal for long-lasting and water-resistant beauty products.
TSS is derived from the co-hydrolysis of tetraalkyl siloxane and trimethyl siloxane, resulting in a stable, uniform polymer with strong adhesion properties. In sunscreens, it creates a protective, water-resistant layer, improving UV defense and durability. In makeup, it enhances smoothness, adhesion, and longevity, preventing smudging or fading in foundations, lipsticks, and powders.
Unlike traditional silicone oils, TSS offers higher compatibility and formulation stability. It blends well with volatile silicones and dimethicones, allowing for enhanced formulation flexibility. The recommended concentration is 2-10%, and it should be dissolved in a non-aromatic organic solvent to ensure even dispersion.
From a market perspective, TSS is creating new opportunities in the cosmetics industry. With increasing consumer demand for long-lasting and high-performance beauty products, manufacturers are adopting TSS-based formulations.
Additionally, TSS is non-hazardous, easy to store, and has a two-year shelf life. It must be sealed after opening to prevent resin precipitation due to solvent evaporation.
With its strong film-forming ability, formulation flexibility, and wide applications, TSS is becoming an essential ingredient in next-generation beauty products, driving innovation and performance in the cosmetic industry.
