Despite their strong performance in the
mid-range market, domestic silicone elastomers still face challenges in the
high-end sector, which is dominated by international giants like Dow Chemical
and Shin-Etsu Chemical. Industry reports indicate that international brands
control over 54% of the global market share through core technologies such as
crosslinking control and long-term stability.
Domestic companies are enhancing their R&D capabilities through industry-academia collaborations. For example, a Guangdong-based company, in partnership with universities, has developed "dynamic crosslinking technology," increasing the gel's temperature resistance to over 200°C, with applications in aerospace sealing materials. Experts recommend learning from Wacker Chemie's global experience to establish cross-border supply chains and expand into high-value fields such as electronics and healthcare.
In the future, as domestic companies improve their technological prowess and refine market strategies, domestic silicone elastomers are expected to capture a larger share of the global market.
