Discipline evolution
The foreign language education of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications originated from the foreign language specialized course established by Nanjing University of Posts and telecommunications in 1960, the foreign language teaching and research office established in 1988, developed into the foreign language department in 1998, established in 2000, and established the Foreign Language Institute in 2008. The college has three undergraduate majors of "English", "Japanese" and "translation". In 2018, the school was approved as the master's degree authorization point of the first level discipline of foreign language and literature and the master's degree authorization point of translation.
Subject teachers
At present, there are 13 professors and 40 associate professors. More than 90% of the teachers have a doctor's degree or are studying for a doctor's degree. There are 16 masters tutors in translation, including 8 professors, 8 associate professors and 15 doctors. 100% of the tutors have the experience of studying or visiting in the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia, Japan and other countries, and have rich experience in oral and written translation. Since 2016, professional teachers have published more than 40 translations, treatises, reference books and teaching materials, and more than 120 papers in core foreign language journals, SSCI and CSSCI source journals.

The master's degree program consists of two languages, English translation and Japanese translation. The specific directions are ICT translation practice, language service and translation technology.
English translation and Japanese translation mainly carry out translation practice training and translation practice, improve students' bilingual translation ability and translation project management ability, cultivate language service awareness and the ability to use information technology, and meet the needs of national strategy and domestic and foreign situation for translation professionals. The main feature of this subject is ICT translation. At the same time, it focuses on the role of corpus and translation technology in translation practice, translation exploration and translation criticism.
