Silicone monomers


The raw materials for preparing silicone oil, silicone rubber, silicone resin and silane coupling agent are various silicone monomers. Thousands of silicone products can be produced from several basic monomers. The main silicone monomers are: methyl chlorosilane (methyl monomer for short), phenyl chlorosilane (phenyl monomer for short), methyl vinyl chlorosilane, ethyl trichlorosilane, propyl trichlorosilane, vinyl trichlorosilane, γ-chloropropyl trichlorosilane and fluorosilicone monomers. Among them, methyl chlorosilane is the most important, accounting for more than 90% of the total monomer amount, followed by phenyl chlorosilane.


The key to the development of any polymer material lies in the development of monomer technology. The characteristics of the silicone industry are concentrated monomer production and decentralized product processing. Therefore, monomer production occupies an important position in the silicone industry, and the production level of monomers directly reflects the development level of the silicone industry.
