Cyclomethicone is a compound obtained by hydrolysis and cracking of dimethyldichlorosilane. The main product types are octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) and dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane (D6) with good volatility.
Cyclomethicone is the main raw material in the silicone industry, and most silicone polymers are obtained by ring-opening polymerization of cyclomethicone.
Among them, D5 and D6 are widely used in cosmetics as high-quality and low-cost raw materials. Due to the characteristics of low surface tension, hydrophobicity, stability, etc., they can be used as emollients, solvents, hair conditioners, volatile excipients, etc.; D4 is mainly used for ring-opening polymerization to form silicone oils, silicone rubbers and silicone resins with different degrees of polymerization.
These polymers are further processed into products and are widely used in various fields such as construction, electronics, textiles, automobiles, personal care, food, and mechanical processing, with only a small amount of direct application;
