Cyclopentasiloxane (D5) can also be harmful to the environment, and the European Commission published an update in January 2018 amending Annex XVII to REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.
After January 31, 2020, the concentration of D4 / D5 in cosmetics washed off after application after placing on the market should be less than 0.1% by weight of both substances. It has now been modified to include cyclohexasiloxane (D6), and it is expected that the limit will be extended to include leave-in products.
