The main principle of silicone surface treatment.
The hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic powders are usually hydrophilic and incompatible with organic polymers. Silicone surface treatment can reduce the surface energy of inorganic powder, reduce the agglomeration between powder particles, and be more compatible with polymers and easier to disperse.

And silicone products can play two main roles in it.
a) Improve the dispersibility of aggregates.
b)Improve polymer-powder compatibility to improve wetting.

The role of silicone surface treatment.
Silicone-treated products tend to have better dispersion, temperature resistance, and hydrophobicity. It mainly achieves the above effects in the following ways:
a)  Improve the adhesion between powder and polymer.
b) Strengthen the wetting of the powder by the polymer.
c) Improve the dispersion of powder in polymer.
d) Improve electrical properties and improve mechanical properties.
e)Reduce the mixing viscosity of powder/polymer.

Common silicones used in powder processing and their characteristics.
a) Silanes: Small molecules, reactive and not migratory. Often used for demanding product handling
b)Hydrogen-containing silicone oil: excellent reactivity and water repellency
c)Hydroxy silicone oil: has certain reactivity, temperature resistance and dispersibility
d)Emulsion products: The emulsion of modified silicone oil and its mixture, different additives can be added according to requirements. Emulsion products are easy to use, environmentally friendly, cost-effective
