In the past three decades, extensive research on the application of organic silicon has been carried out worldwide. Well-documented studies on the safety of silicones alone exceed 1,000 cases. Studies have shown that under normal use conditions, silicones are very safe for human health and the environment. Regulatory agencies around the world, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, have evaluated safety data for silicones and confirmed their safety. In addition, the US Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) issued a report back in 2001, confirming that the application of silicones in cosmetics is safe. Silicones continue to be used in the pharmaceutical, personal care, medical device, health care, and food industries.
