Wet combing force

In conditioning shampoos, cationic polymers, in addition to silicone, will also deposit on the hair surface during coacervate formation in the massage and rinse stages. Silicone provides multiple benefits for hair in the dry stage, while cationic polymers provide hair with combing force reduction in the wet stage. The wet combing force of bleached hair after treatment with different samples was measured and shown in Figure 8. The wet combing force of untreated bleached hair is around 90 grams. Bleached hair washed with the polyAPTACACM/ GHPTC mixture showed best wet combing force reduction for most silicone types, except LPS which showed almost no difference for different polymers. Compared to other silicone emulsions, ADM shampoo samples with polyAPTAC-ACM/GHPTC Mixture and GHPTC have the best combing force reduction. This again demonstrates that ADM is the preferred choice for bleached hair, and conditioning performance is better with the polyAPTAC-ACM/GHPTC mixture.
