Nanjing University of Posts and telecommunications is a national "double first-class" construction university and Jiangsu high-level university construction university. Its predecessor is the Eighth Route Army Combat post training class, which was born in Shandong Anti Japanese base in 1942. In 1958, it was approved by the State Council to be transformed into a undergraduate university, named Nanjing University of Posts and telecommunications; in April 2005, it was renamed Nanjing University of Posts and telecommunications. In 2018, it became a "double first-class" Construction University jointly built by the Ministry of education and Jiangsu Province, focusing on the management of Jiangsu Province.
At present, the university has developed into a university with engineering as the main body, electronic information as the feature, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, education, art, law and other disciplines blending with each other, and multi-level education coordinated development, such as postdoctoral, doctoral, master's and undergraduate.
At present, the university has 3 post doctoral mobile stations, 3 first level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 14 second level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 21 first level discipline master's degree authorization points, 30 second level discipline master's degree authorization points, 8 professional degree authorization points (categories) and 56 undergraduate majors.
At present, four disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI disciplines in the world, one national key discipline (cultivation point), nine national first-class professional construction points, seven national characteristic professional construction points, one national comprehensive reform pilot project, seven specialties have passed the national engineering education professional certification, and eight national excellence program specialties. As the main collaborative unit, it was selected into two national "2011 collaborative innovation centers" and as the leading unit, it was selected into two provincial "2011 plan" collaborative innovation centers. At present, there are more than 30000 students of all kinds.
