Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications is one of the key post and Telecommunications universities set up by the state. It is a high-level teaching and research university with distinctive features and outstanding advantages jointly built by the Ministry of industry and information technology and Chongqing, which has an important influence in the field of information and communication. The school was founded in 1950. During the Anti Japanese War, a training course for postal personnel of Dongchuan post administration was held at the original site of the post administration of the Ministry of communications. In 1959, it was established as Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications with the approval of the State Council, and started its undergraduate education; Guo Changbo was the first president and Secretary of the Party committee of Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications; in order to expand the school site, in 1966, teachers and students were mobilized to participate in voluntary labor after school, and a wireless building (now the first teaching building) was built.
ChongqingUniversity of Post and Telecommunications (CQUPT), founded in 1950, is one ofthe few universities that has been blue-printed and given priority to developby the State. It has also grown into a prominent university and is acknowledgedby its excellence in the field of information industry both within and outsideChina. CQUPT started from the 1st Dongchuan Postal Administration training in 1950.Then, it was named Chongqing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications by the State Council in 1959 and after that it began undergraduate education. GuoChangbo was the first President and Party Secretary. To improve teaching conditions, teachers and students worked asvolunteers after class to build the WUXIAN Building(Now the Teaching Building1) in1966.

At present, the school has more than 24000 students, including more than 3400 graduate students. There are more than 1700 on-the-job teaching and administrative staff. Our alumni and former vice president of the Chinese Academy of engineering, Academician Wu Hequan, are our honorary president and chairman of the board of directors.
CQUPT hosts 16 schools, offering 51 undergraduate programs, 27 graduate programs, and 2 Ph.D. programs. There are over 1,700 faculty members and more than 24,000 students. Wu Hequan, our distinctive alumni and former vice president of Chinese Academy of Engineering is the honorary president and the Chairman of university board. Li Lin is the President and Party Secretary.
