As an effective method for preparing polysiloxanes with clear structures, the ring-opening polymerization of cyclomethylsiloxane is usually a typical equilibrium process.
Therefore, various types of synthesized silicone oils inevitably contain a large number of various small molecular cyclosiloxanes. Even if the product is treated by vacuum distillation, it still contains some cyclosiloxanes and other low molar mass linear polysiloxanes, and it is difficult to completely react D4 100%.
In actual application, the residual D4 will evaporate from the product.
