Emollient
Emollient is what makes normal, healthy skin smooth, supple and elastic. Methyl silicone oil, methyl phenyl silicone oil and siloxane glycol copolymers are sorbent emollients that form an occlusive composite film on the skin surface to soften the inelastic stratum corneum, allowing the stratum corneum to be extracted from the underlying tissue. The water is hydrated and prevented from being lost to the atmosphere. Therefore, the use of emollients or skin care products containing emollients can protect the skin from drying or reduce the symptoms of already dry skin.
