Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications
Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications, referred to as Beiyou for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and jointly built by the Ministry of industry and information technology. It has the characteristics of information technology, engineering as the main body, management, literature, science and other disciplines coordinated development. It is a member of the union of Beijing University of science and technology. It is a key construction project of national "211 Project" and "985 Project advantageous discipline innovation platform", and listed in the first batch of "excellence plan" and "111 plan". It is known as the cradle of China's information technology talents.
Its predecessor is Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications, the first post and telecommunications university in New China established in 1955. In 1960, it was designated as a national key university by the State Council. In 1993, it was renamed "Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications". In 2000, it was included in the ranks of universities directly under the Ministry of education. In 2012, the first level discipline of information and communication engineering ranked first in China.
As of April 2019, Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications has Xitucheng Road Campus, Shahe campus, Hongfu campus and Xiaoxitian campus, with research institutes in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province and Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. There are nearly 23000 full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and international students, nearly 55000 officially registered part-time students, 2183 teaching and administrative staff, including 1435 full-time teachers, 10 first level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 22 first level disciplines authorized by master's degree (including 10 first level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree), 7 types of professional master's degree authorization points, 43 undergraduate majors, and the establishment of doctor's degree 6 post research mobile stations.
